Design and Technology

Intent

At Lyndon Green Infants we want all of our children to embrace the invaluable role that design and technology has in our world. We deliver a curriculum which is inspiring, rigorous and practical. When teaching DT we follow the design, make and evaluate cycle. We want our children to use their creativity and imagination to design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts. We develop our children’s understanding of the importance of planning and designing, establishing a clear function and purpose embedding key skills and knowledge. We also encourage our children to be confident when evaluating their own and others finished products. We nurture children to take risks, to develop innovative designs, to be creative thinkers and reflective learners. All children acquire appropriate subject knowledge, skills and understanding as set out in the National Curriculum. We create strong cross curricular links with other subjects, such as Mathematics, Science, Computing and Art. Design and Technology will prepare our children and give them the opportunities, responsibilities, and experiences and to make use of them they need to be successful in later life.
